Man Rescued After Cliff Jumping Injury

A man was rescued from a cliff in Howth, Co Dublin after sustaining back injuries while jumping into the sea.

The Irish Coast Guard Cliff Rescue team was called after the man was injured jumping from rocks nine-metres above the sea. It is understood that the man's injuries were caused by the impact with the water.

The man was treated at the scene by the Coast Guard and paramedics from Dublin Fire Brigade before being airlifted to hospital.

In a statement tonight, the Coast Guard warned: "Jumping off high structures like bridges or cliffs into the water is jumping into the unknown with tides changing and unknown debris beneath the surface. There is risk of serious injury or worse."
