Iarnród Éireann And Unions Enter Fresh Negotiations

Fresh negotiations have begun between unions and Iarnród Éireann in an effort to reach agreement over cost reduction measures.

It follows the rejection of a Labour Court recommendation that workers accept a proposed cost reduction plan laid out by the rail operator.

However, SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union voted to reject the recommendations.

It is understood that the Iarnród Éireann has said that if a deal is not reached in the current talks, they will press on with introducing the measures.

However, union members have voted in favour of industrial action should that happen.
