Iarnród Éireann Unions Reject Cost Saving Plan

Union members at Iarnród Éireann have voted to reject the rail company's proposed cost cutting plan.

The National Bus and Rail Union voted to reject the proposal by a majority of 82%, while 71% of SIPTU members rejected it.

One union, the Transport and Salaried Staff Association, did vote to accept the measures.

The cost saving measure included pay cuts ranging between 1.7% and 6.1%, that would have run for three years from 1 March.

Management at the rail company are understood to be considering how to proceed.

SIPTU Reject Labour Court Recommendations On Iarnród Éireann Cuts
SIPTU is to ballot its members over possible strike action at Iarnród Éireann, following the unions rejection of a Labour Court proposed cost reduction plan. The union's 1,700 members voted to reject the Labour Court recommendation, which included a range of pay cuts, by 51% to 49%.

Unions To Meet Over Dublin Bus Cost-Cutting Plans

Translink Workers Reject Pay Offer
Translink NI workers have rejected a pay offer from the public transport company. Unite, GMB and SIPTU confirmed that their members has "decisively voted to reject as inadequate" a pay offer made by Translink management. Workers were offered a 5% pay increase and a non-consolidated one-off payment of £1,500 for the 2023-2024 financial year.
