Man Armed With Hatchet Arrested Over Aggravated Burglary

A 20year-old man has been arrested in Waterford in connection with an aggravated burglary.

According to garda the man was found at a house in the Abbeyside area of Dungarvan, Co Waterford. Garda say that the man was armed with a hatchet.

Garda had responded to a report of suspicious activity in the area.

It is understood that the man is being held in connection with an incident in which the occupants of a house where held up by a man with a hatchet, who stole cash and mobile phones.

A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.

17-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Fatal Stabbing In Waterford
A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Waterford. A 25-year-old man was discovered with a serious injury at Shanakiel, Dunmore East at about 3.40am this morning, 26 July. The man was treated at the scene by emergency services before being taken to University Hospital Waterford.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Tallaght Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A man who had been missing from the Tallaght area has been found 'safe and well', Garda have reported. 30-year-old John Rodgers was reported missing on 11 July. However, Garda said John has now been found and thanked the public for their assistance.

Arrests Follow Limerick Firearms Seizure
Two people have been arrested after three firearms were discovered during a search of houses in Limerick city on Monday. The houses in O'Malley Park in the Southill area were searched on Monday and it is understood that a rifle, a sawn-off shotgun and a full-length shotgun were recovered.
