Man Charged Over 'Sword' At Leinster House

A 19-year-old man has been charged after bringing an offensive weapon - thought to have been a samurai sword - into Leinster House.

Gardai in Pearse Street investigating the incident in the grounds of Leinster House on 29 April have charged a male in connection with the incident.

He was due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice 10:30 this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 16:30 and the man was arrested on the front plinth of Leinster House, on the Kildare Street side.

He was taken to Pearse Street Garda Station and detained over possession of offensive weapons. No one was injured in the incident.
