ASTI Vote In Favour Of Strike Action

The Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) have voted in favour of industrial action.

The teachers have concerns regarding the proposed changes to the Junior Cycle programme on secondary schools.

It is understood that turnout for the vote was 45%, with 88% voting in favour of, as yet undetermined, industrial action.

ASTI have said that details of the action are to be discussed.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) balloted nurses in a number of Midwest regional hospitals, with 93% voting in favour of a work-to-rule action to be held on 03 February.

Bus Eireann SIPTU Members Vote In Favour Of Strike Action
SIPTU members at Bus Eireann have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action at the company. The strike action is expected to commence on Thursday 17th January following a ballot in which 91% voted in favour.

UK Embassy Staff Vote To Strike
The unheard-of prospect of a strike by staff at a British embassy is now looming in Dublin. Members of the Unite trade union have voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking industrial action at the British Embassy in Ballsbridge in Dublin.
