One Dies And Another Seriously Injured In Road Crash
Gardaí have reported the death of a 49-year-old woman in a road crash between Athlone and Ballinasloe on Monday monring.
According to garda the woman died when the car she was in was struck by a taxi.
The taxi is understood to have also been seriously injured in the crash and is being treated at Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.
An investigation into the crash is underway and the road has been closed pending a forensic examination.

A man has been killed in a collision in Galway. The car crash happened at around 2.45am this morning on the Headford to Galway Road. The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has made a new appeal for witnesses to a road crash in which a 77-year-old woman died on Friday. Clare Barr, from the Navan Road in Dublin, died after she was struck by a car on the Dublin-bound carriageway of the Navan Road, Dublin 7, around 2pm on Friday.

Gardaí have said that woman, aged in her 20s, died in the crash at around 10am on Thursday morning at Raheenaskeagh, north of the junction for Oulart village. The single male occupant of the second is being treated for serious injuries at Wexford Regional Hospital.

A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
