Irish Household Income Increases

The gross disposable income of households in Ireland increased by €164m to €21,561m between the second and third quarter of 2013, according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.

Household expenditure increased by €215m to €19,754 over this same period.

Gross saving for the whole economy increased by €1,641m from €6,168m in the third quarter of 2012 to the third quarter of 2013.

The saving deficit of government reached €2,843m in the third quarter of 2013, marking an improvement on the Q3 2012 deficit of €3,472m.

The has been attributed mainly to an increase in taxes paid on production and imports.

Net borrowing of government was €2,817m in third quarter of 2013, marking a decline of €1,072m on the third quarter 2012 result of €3,889m.

Net borrowing by the rest of the world from Ireland amounted to €3,392m in the third quarter of 2013, compared with a net borrowing of €2,180m the year before.

Unemployment Falls By 17.3% - CSO
Unemployment in Ireland fell by 17.3% in the third quarter of the year, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office. The Quarterly National Household Survey Q3 (QHNS), shows that 42,500 less people where unemployed in the third quarter of 2015, with total employment standing at 1,983,900.
