Gardai Probe Shooting Incident In County Mayo

Gardai at Castlebar are investigating the circumstances of a shooting incident which occurred yesterday in County Mayo.

Around 6.30pm a middle-aged woman was seriously injured when she was shot by a lone gunman at a shop on Main Street in Balla. She was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital.

The scene has been preserved pending a full technical examination and the shotgun used in the incident has been recovered.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact the incident room at Castlebar Garda station.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.

Woman Dies After Mayo Mountain Fall
A woman who fell while climbing in the Mweelrea mountains in Co Mayo yesterday evening has died. Search teams in the Mweelrea Mountains in Co Mayo were called to the scene where the woman, who is in her 30s, fell on Ben Bury peak at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Appeal For Information On Shooting Incident In Longford
Gardaí have issued an appeal for information following an alleged shooting incident in Longford. A number of shots were reportedly fired at a house at Anally Gardens, Longford shortly before 9pm on Thursday 13 February. According to reports, three people were in the house at the time but there were no reports of any injuries.

Shots Fired At House In North Dublin
An investigation has been launched following a shooting incident in north Dublin last night. At approximately 10.30pm, shots were fired at a house in the Cromcastle Court area in Kilmore. According to reports, a window of the house was smashed but nobody was injured. Gardaí attended the scene and officers carried out a technical exam of the area.
