ESB Unions Group To Serve Strike Notice
Unions representing workers at ESB will issue a notice of industrial action to the company, in an ongoing dispute over a €1.6 billion deficit in the pension fund.
It is understood that the exact nature of what the industrial action might be is not yet known, but the union group has agreed to hold talks with ESB management.
The group representing the company's union member employees are meeting today (Friday) to agree a strategy after members voted in favour of industrial action.
The notice of action will be issued on 29 November and run until 8am on the 16 December.
The dispute has arisen after the company paid a €78 million dividend to the State - and is expected to pay a further €400 million following the sale of assets – despite the a deficit of €1.6bn in the company's pension scheme has not been addressed.
