O'Brien Welcomes Ryanair Announcement
Fianna Fáil Dublin spokesperson Darragh O'Brien has welcomed the news that Ryanair is to operate nine new routes from Dublin Airports.
The additional services will create 300 jobs and support a further 1,000.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr O'Brien said: "This is a major vote of confidence in Dublin and very positive for the local economy in Fingal. The improved road network in north Dublin, Terminal 2 and Pier D has all helped to make it attractive for investment.
"The sustained investment in the airport's infrastructure over many years is one of the key factors in the expanding employments opportunities.
"Increased capacity on routes out of Dublin is a direct result of the €3 travel tax being scrapped and that is an important development we welcome. We need to see more effort from the Government in highlighting the positives of our capital city to bring about more investment and job creation."
The new routes, which come into operation from April 2014, are to Almeria, Bari, Basel, Bucharest, Chania, Comiso, Lisbon, Marrakesh and Prague.
