Gardaí Identify Girl Found In Dublin

Gardaí have said they have identified a young woman who was discovered on Dublin's O'Connell Street last month.

In a statement, gardaí said they are now following a definite line of inquiry into the matter.

They added that they are working closely with the Australian police and the Health Service Executive to "finalise the matter".

Last month, the girl was found in a distressed state in Dublin city centre. Following the discovery, the garda investigation has involved more than 2,000 man-hours and over 115 lines of inquiry. On Friday, officers revealed they had exhausted every avenue in their efforts to identify her and had sought permission from the High Court to issue an image of the girl.

A photo of the girl was released by gardaí on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Australian Federal Police confirmed it had received a request for assistance from Irish authorities through Interpol.

"The AFP, in conjunction with appropriate state police forces, are assisting Irish authorities with this request.

"As this matter is ongoing, it is not appropriate for the AFP to comment any further," he added.
