Garda Arrest Two Men Who May Have Averted A Shooting

Two men have been arrested in Dublin's southside, with gardaí believing they may have averted a shooting.

The two men were spotted walking through the Seagull House flats complex in Drimnagh by a routine patrol by officers from Sundrive Road Garda Station.

It is understood that the two men are well-known to garda and the officers decided to stop the men as they became suspicious of their movements.

In the subsequent search, the officers found a loaded 9mm handgun, and imitation firearm, ammunition and a bullet-proof vest.

Garda say they believe the two men, aged 19 and 28, where in the area to carry out a "hit".

The two were arrested under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and were taken for questioning to Sundrive Road and Crumlin stations.

They can be held for up to 72 hours without charge.

Pair Arrested As Guns And Ammunition Seized In Dublin
Two men have been arrested after Gardaí seized handguns and ammunition in west Dublin. Officers intercepted a car in Clonsilla shortly after 7pm on Sunday 23 June and discovered two handguns and 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, are currently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station while investigations continue.

Two Men Arrested Over Dublin Shooting Incident
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Dublin on Tuesday night. At approximately 11.30pm Gardai received a report of a firearm been discharged at a house on Inverness Road in Fairview. On arrival it was discovered that a shot had been fired at an upstairs bedroom window.

Man To Appear In Court On Ammunition Charge
A 20-year-old man will appear at Dublin District Court Number on Monday, over handgun and ammunition charges. Gardai from Sundrive Road arrested three men at approximately 2.30am on Saturday morning following the recovery of a Glock pistol and ammunition on Crumlin Road, Dublin 12.

Man Arrested Over Gun And Ammunition Seizure
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in an operation targeting organised criminal gangs in the Crumlin area of Dublin. Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.
