More Than 50 Arrested At Eminem Gig

Gardai have confirmed 22 people were arrested for public order offences on Saturday night, during a concert by American rapper Eminem.

During the event, which was being held at Slane, there were a further 35 arrests for minor drug offences and five reported assaults, as well as one person who was detained for driving while under the influence, it was reported.

Superintendent Michael Devine added that most of the 80,000 fans who attended the gig were well behaved.

Mr Devine said: "The vast majority of fans heeded the advice given in advance of the event which ensured everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience."

A large security operation was put in place for the event after nine people were injured when violence broke out at a concert in Phoenix Park last year. Around 750 Garda officers were on duty on Saturday night, with an additional 500 local stewards located on the ground to ensure public safety.

Concertgoers were also searched at three different entry points with officers looking out for alcohol, drugs and weapons being brought onto the site.
