Two Arrested Following Fatal Weekend Stabbing
Two men have been arrested as part of a gardaí investigating into a fatal stabbing in an apartment in Cavan town on Saturday night.
A Romanian man was stabbed to death at a property in Cavan after a number of uninvited men barged their way in, in what sources described as a “house invasion”.
The victim was stabbed during a row and died at the scene. He had arrived in Ireland only at the end of last week.
The incident occurred at a rented apartment at Connolly Court, Connolly Street, Cavan, just after 11pm on Saturday.
The man’s partner was with him and is believed to have witnessed the killing. She is a Romanian national.
One man in his 40s was arrested yesterday afternoon and second man in his 30s was arrested last night.
Both men are being held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Cavan Garda station.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Dies In Co Cavan Lake
A man has died after he got into difficulties while swimming in a lake in Co Cavan. He had been swimming with friends at Knocknagarton lake at approximately 10pm on Monday. His body was recovered and was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A man has taken to hospital after being stabbed in Co Wexford. The male, 34, was stabbed at a house on Grange Road at around 9.30pm on Thursday night. His condition is described as serious but stable. Gardai have arrested a 60-year-old man. He is currently being detained at New Ross Garda station.
