Five Arrested Following Foiled Robbery
Gardai have arrested five men in relation to a foiled robbery at the house of a businessman in Cork.
Three men were arrested this morning (12 August) and two other males, believed to be in their 30s and 40s were arrested at around 11.30pm last night.
It is understood Gardai are continuing to search for weapons used by the men. The group are believed to be members of a south side gang suspected of carrying out other burglaries in Cork.
According to Gardai, no-one was injured at the time of the robbery.
The five men are currently being detained at Midleton, Mayfield and Cobh Garda stations.

Firearm Found Following Cork Robbery
Gardai have discovered a firearm following a robbery at a house in Cork. The shotgun was found in a field near the home of a businessman at Gluntahaune during searches on Monday. Five men have been arrested and are currently being detained in custody. The weapon has been sent for forensic examination.

Three men arrested in connection with an attempted robbery of a Dublin post office have been released without charge. It is understood three masked suspects armed with knives, a crowbar and other implements entered the building on Leonard's Corner at around 12:30pm yesterday, 03 December.

Gardai have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a petrol station in Dublin on Tuesday evening. The robbery occurred on the Stillorgan Road in Blackrock at around 6.30pm. The men, armed with a gun and a hammer, threatened staff and demanded money. They fled the scene with a sum of cash.

Men Arrested Over €1m Cocaine And Heroin Find
Heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1m, has been recovered in a house search in Ballyfermot on Tuesday. Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 30s, at the scene after officers uncovered 13kgs of cocaine worth an estimated €900,000 and 1.5kgs of heroin, with an estimated value of €225,000.
