Live Register Decreases By 2,300 In July
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease
of 2,300 in July 2012, bringing the total to 437,300, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The standardised unemployment rate (SUR) in July 2012 was 14.8%, unchanged from the latest June 2012 rate. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the most recent Quarterly National Household Survey (QNHS) was 14.8% in the first quarter of 2012.
In unadjusted terms there were 460,323 people signing on the Live Register in July 2012. This represents an annual decrease of 9,961 (-2.1%). The trend in the overall Live Register continues to be one of movement within a small range.

Joan Burton, Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, has welcomed the latest figures which reveal a fall in the number of those unemployed. The Live Register figures, published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), which showed the unemployment rate in Ireland continues to fall. For August, the rate was 11.2%, compared to a peak of 15.

The number of people signing on the Live Register dropped by 2,000 in August to 434,000 according to figures by the Central Statistic Office (CSO). The standardised unemployment rate in August this year was 14.7%, this remained unchanged from the latest July 2012 rate.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, there were 3,200 fewer people signing on. This reduced the total number on the Live Register to 419,200 and marked a decline for the 13th consecutive month.

Minister Welcomes Fall In Live Register Figures
The latest Live Register figures, released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show that the standard unemployment rate in Ireland is now 10%. This represents a fall in the number of people on the Live Register of 1.8% on the previous month, and continues a trend of a reduction in the levels of people signing on.
