Man Dies In Cell In Co Waterford

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission are carrying out an investigation following the death of a man in a Garda Station in County Waterford.

Nathan Kirby, 21, was found dead in a cell in Dungarvan Garda Station at around 12pm on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination will take place at Waterford Regional Hospital today.

Foul play is not suspected.

Gardaí Appeal For Information Following Serious Assault
A 23-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital and a 19-year-old man is in custody following an assault in Dublin on Tuesday evening. Gardaí have confirmed that a man suffered serious injuries in an assault at around 6pm near the Luas stop in Rialto.

An appeal for the public's assistance has been launched after a 45-year-old man went disappeared from his home in Waterford. Gardai at Tramore are anxious to trace the whereabouts of Nicky Barry who went missing yesterday. Nicky was last seen leaving New Ross, County Wexford by car, a wine Fiat Punto with the registration number 98 TS 2461.

Man Dies After Being Hit By Truck In County Waterford
A 60-year-old man has died after being hit by truck in County Waterford. The incident occurred at around 8.15pm on Sunday 20 January on a road in Killossera, Dungarvan. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver of the truck was uninjured. The road remained closed this morning with diversions in place.

Man Dies In Navan Garda Station
An investigation has been launched into the death of a man at Navan Garda Station in Co Meath on Thursday night. The 52-year-old, who was arrested yesterday for a public order offence, was found lying on the floor of a cell shortly after 10pm. The man was said to have been in an intoxicated state taken into custody for public order reasons.

Minister Called To Re-Consider Opening Rush Garda Station
Fianna Fáil is calling on the Minister for Justice to consider re-opening Rush Garda Station. Senator and Seanad Spokesperson for Justice Clifford-Lee said: "Rush is a large and growing urban area with a surrounding rural hinterland. It is among the fastest-growing areas within the fastest growing constituency and county in Ireland.
