New 'JobsPlus' Scheme Begins

A new pilot scheme to help the long-term unemployed will be launched today.

The 'JobsPlus' programme will offer financial incentives to employers that recruit people who have been out of work for 12 months or more.

It is understood that employers will given regular cash payments to help offset the cost of wages.

The scheme, beginning on a trial basis, will replace the Revenue Job Assist and Employer Job Exemption Scheme.
