€330m Saved In 9 Months By Croke Park

Some €330 million was saved between April and December last year under the Croke Park Agreement, the agreements implementation body has said.

The Croke Park Implementation Body have produced their third and final report, which reveals that the 2010 deal saved a total of €1.8 billion.

During the nine-month review period, the body claims that some €161 million was saved from the exchequer paybill. On an annual basis this is thought to have totalled €214 million.

A further €169 million was saved in non pay, or efficiency, savings, which have been €236 million across a full year.

The news comes in the week that the Haddington Road Agreement takes over the Croke Park Agreements.

Translink Workers Reject Pay Offer
Translink NI workers have rejected a pay offer from the public transport company. Unite, GMB and SIPTU confirmed that their members has "decisively voted to reject as inadequate" a pay offer made by Translink management. Workers were offered a 5% pay increase and a non-consolidated one-off payment of £1,500 for the 2023-2024 financial year.

€1.5bn Saved By Croke Park Body In Two Years
Savings of almost €1.5 billion have been secured in the two years since the formation of the Croke Park Implementation Body, according to the head of the group.

National Campaign Launches To Oppose New Croke Park Agreement
Four trade unions have launched a joint national campaign to seek a no vote to the proposals for a new Croke Park agreement. The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO), The Civil and Public Services Union (CPSU) and Unite launched the campaign at a press conference in Dublin this morning.

€420m To Be Saved By The Health Service By 2016
A further €420m in health service savings are hoped to be made over the next three years. The government announced the savings plan during the latest round of talks on an extension to the Croke Park agreement. At the meeting trade unions heard that the savings for 2013 would be €150m.
