Call For Govt To Extradite Former Anglo Chief
Fianna Fáil Justice Spokesperson Niall Collins TD has responded to the publication of the latest Anglo Tapes and called for the Government to consider seeking the extradition of former Anglo chief David Drumm from the USA if he refuses to return to Ireland to answer questions.
Deputy Collins commented: "The picture of David Drumm planning his strategy to extract funds from the Central Bank is an appalling one. His apparent disinterest in the impact of his actions on the Irish state is causing great anger and distress among those who listen to the tapes.
"The Irish people need to hear directly from Mr Drumm and get his explanation for the language and strategies detailed in these tapes. To date, Mr Drumm has evaded any proper scrutiny having moved to the US when the crisis originally broke.
"If Mr Drumm refuses to return voluntarily to Ireland to answer questions, the Government should make it clear that it will seek his extradition.
"Fianna Fáil has made it clear repeatedly that the party fully supports efforts to establish the full truth of Ireland’s banking collapse and the Government’s response to it. However, we believe that the approach proposed by Fine Gael and the Labour Party is wholly inadequate, will allow those featured in these tapes off the hook and will be more about petty politics than anything else."

Teachers Protest Bailed Out Bank
Teachers are staging a protest today at one of the banks that is about to be bailed out by government funds. A picket will be held outside the Dublin office of Anglo Irish Bank the Stephen's Green office at 4.30pm by a group called Teachers United and includes members from the three main teaching unions the ASTI, INTO and the TUI.

Drumm 'Lied', Say Anglo
An American judge is to make the call on whether fresh evidence from the Anglo Irish Bank warrants a high profile bankruptcy case. Anglo has accused the ex Chief Executive of the bank, David Drumm, of repeatedly lying under oath. They have urged the US court not to allow Mr Drumm to walk away from bankruptcy.

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson of Finance Michael McGrath has said the tape recordings reported in the Irish Independent of a conversation between senior Anglo Irish Bank executives in 2008 should be referred to An Garda Síochána and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE).

Fitzpatrick Trial Unlikely Before 2014
The trial of former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick is unlikely to happen before the end of 2014. The 64-year-old is facing a total of 12 charges in connection with financial irregularities at the bank over a six-year period. He has yet to enter a plea.

Proceedings over the Bankruptcy of former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick are to resume at the High Court today. According to reports this morning, Mr FitzPatrick's entire assets will be sold before the proceeds are given to debtors, banks and the Revenue Commissioners.
