Fire That Killed 68-Year-Old 'Not Suspicious'

A 68-year-old man has died in a house fire in Co Louth.

The man, who lived alone, was found in the sitting room of the house on Hand Street, Drogheda, Co Louth.

It is understood that the fire is thought to have started in the kitchen of the house.

Garda are not looking for any one else in connection with the blaze and have said the fire was suspicious.

Man Arrested Over Fatal House Fire Released Without Charge
A man arrested in connection with a fatal house fire in Dublin has been released without charge. A 44-year-old man died in the blaze which happened at a property on Oakland's Terrace, Rathgar, at around 3am on Tuesday, 21 August. It is understood the man had escaped from the fire before returning inside and suffered critical injuries.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.
