HSE Reveal Hospital Outpatient Waiting Lists
The latest figures from the HSE reveal that more than 5,600 patients in Limerick have waited at least four years for an out patient appointment.
Some 4,148 patients at the Mid Western Regional Orthopaedic Hospital were waiting four years or more, as of the end of February. With a further 1,473 patients waiting at the nearby Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle.
105,632 patients nationally, waited over a year for a first time consultant outpatient appointment.
The figures also show the hospitals with the longest outpatient waiting lists:
• University College Hospital Galway with 41,035 patients
• Waterford Regional with 28,625 patients
• Tallaght Hospital with a total of 26,119 patients
• Limerick Regional which had 23,098 patients
• Cork University Hospital with 22,944
• Beaumont Hospital in Dublin with 22,206 patients on waiting lists.

The Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill has been published by the government following approval by the Cabinet. Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.

INMO Data Reveals Over 500 Patients Waiting On Trolleys
Over 500 patients are either on trolleys in hospital emergency departments or on wards waiting for beds, according to new figures. Data collected by the Irish Nurses and Midwives' Organisation (INMO) revealed there are a total of 544 patients waiting.
