Gardai Investigate Aggravated Burglary

Gardaí are investigating an Aggravated burglary at a house in Charlestown, Co Mayo which occurred at approximately 11.15pm last Friday.

Two masked men, one armed with a knife, entered the house through the front door, both were believed to be armed with knives. They asked the woman in the house the whereabouts of her partner.

The woman was assaulted a number of times, however her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The raiders then left the house.

No property was stolen.

Gunman Arrested In Dublin
Gardai in Dublin have arrested a man after an attempted armed robbery of a pub in Chapelizod, early this morning. Officers were called to The Villager pub at around 1am. The man, armed with a shotgun, was demanding cash from the barman when two gardai entered. The gunman turned his weapon on one of the officers, who disarmed him and made an arrest.

Witnesses Sought To Fatal House Fire In Carrickmacross
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal house fire in Carrickmacross on Monday 21 March. Emergency services were called to a property at St. Macartans Villas at about 01:30. A man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post mortem was carried out.

Woman Arrested Following Cannabis Find
A woman has been arrested after a cannabis growhouse was discovered by gardai in County Carlow. The plants, believed to be worth approximately €250,000, were found during a planned search of a house yesterday. The woman, in her 40's, is being questioned at Carlow garda station.

Man Arrested In Connection With Portarlington Cannabis Seizure
A man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis herb following a planned house search in Portarlington. The search was carried out just before 11pm on Monday, 19 June. Cannabis herb worth an estimated €80,000 was uncovered during the operation.

Garda Investigating 2004 Disappearance Of Patrick Lawlor Begin Search Operation
Garda investigating the 2004 disappearance of Patrick Lawlor have begun a search operation at a derelict site in Dublin. Mr Lawlor has not been seen since around 6.30am, on the morning of 16 December, 2004, when he left his home in Darndale, Coolock, Dublin.
