Garda Were Pursuing Car Involved In M50 Pile Up
It has been revealed that one of the cars involved in a three-car pile up on the M50 on Tuesday night was being pursued by garda.
It is understood that garda were trailing the car from a distance before it turned into junction 15 of the M50 and drove north on the southbound road.
A short time later the car was involved in the three-car crash between junction 15 and junction 14 at around 20.00.
The male driver of the pursued car and six other people, including three children, were taken to hospital.
The driver is being treated at Beaumont Hospital were his condition is described as serious.
The six other injured were taken to Tallaght Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital but are not in a serious condition.
It is not yet known why gardaí were in pursuit of the man.
The incident was referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission by the Garda Commissioner under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005.

Three men were arrested on Wednesday evening following a high-speed car chase on the M1 motorway. Garda came upon a car in Drogheda travelling south that had been stolen in the north. Following a pursuit, garda attempted to ram the car near the M1/M50 junction, damaging three garda cars in the operation.

Man Dies In Shooting Incident
A 21-year-old man who was shot in Bunratty, Co Clare, died yesterday in hospital. Two men are still being questioned over the attack at the Bunratty Castle Hotel car park, and are being detained at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Garda Commissioner, Ryan Tubridy and Irish Sporting Legends have launched the 'Great Garda Run 2012' at the Aviva Stadium. The event will see 100 members of An Garda Siochana participate in the Munich Marathon on Sunday 14th October 2012, in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Man Killed Following Dublin Robbery
A man has been found killed in the car park of a shop in Dublin after an attempted robbery on Thursday night. Details of the killing are still emerging, but gardaí at Clontarf Garda Station have launched an investigation into the death of the man in his twenties on what is thought to be the escape route of the robber.
