GRA And Garda Commissioner To Discuss Impact Of Cuts

Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan is to meet with the Garda Representative Association over the impact of pay cuts and a perceived lack of resources on rank and file officers.

It is understood the Commissioner called the meeting following the announcement that garda plan to stop carrying out certain tasks, which they say they do in work on a voluntary basis.

The AGSI will meet with the Garda Commissioner next month.

Garda Compensation Scheme Approved
Proposals for a revised Garda compensation scheme were published today by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr Alan Shatter, TD. The scheme relates to a death or injury which is maliciously inflicted upon a member of the Garda Síochána while on duty or in connection with their duties.
