24-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Donegal Burglary

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a burglary of an elderly woman’s home.

The break-in happened around 03.45 on Friday morning at a home in Kilmacrennan, Co Donegal.

The pensioner was alone in the house when a man forced his way into her bedroom, threatening her and demanding cash.

However, he fled the scene empty-handed and the woman escaped uninjured.

It is the latest in a spate of burglaries targeting elderly people in rural areas, particularly Donegal.

The young man was arrested by garda from Milford, Co Donegal, he is being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Man Arrested In Connection With 2012 Co Donegal Death
Gardaí investigating the murder of Seamus Doherty in Co Donegal in June 2012, have arrested a 52-year-old man. Mr Doherty's body was discovered at a house in Drumacnoo, near the village of Churchill, just before 2am on 17 June, 2012. A man was arrested in connection with the investigation on Wednesday night in Raphoe, Co Donegal.

Four Men Arrested Following Co Wexford Burglary
Four men have been arrested in connection with a burglary in Co Wexford on Wednesday, 11 May. Garda said that at about 10pm four men entered the home of an elderly man near Taghmon, Co Wexford. The men took a sum of money and electrical equipment after threatening the man. The men were arrested in the Enniscorthy area.
