Gardai Issue Renewed Appeal For Missing Aoife Phelan

Gardai in Portlaoise are renewing their appeal for public assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 30 year old Aoife Phelan.

Aoife, who is a native of Cashel, Ballyroan, Portlaoise, met a friend at the Borris Road Roundabout in Portlaoise at about 6.30pm on the 25th October and was last seen at 8.10pm when she left a friends house at Colliers View, Portlaoise. She was employed as a live in au pair at The Hermitage, Portlaoise and was in work until 6.15 p.m. on that evening.

She is described as being approximately 5'’7’" in height, slim build, has long blonde/sandy coloured hair and blue eyes. When last seen she was wearing stone washed/light coloured jeans and a knitted jumper. She was also wearing a red sleeveless jacket with a fur trimmed hood and black boots. She may have been wearing a silver necklace and a watch with a black strap.

Man Charged With Aoife Phelan Murder
A 24 year old man charged with the murder of Aoife Phelan is to receive psychiatric treatment behind bars. Robert Corbet, with an address of Sheffield, Portlaoise, was charged with killing the nanny on 25th October. Mr Corbet has been remanded in custody and is to appear at the district court in Portlaoise on 15th November.

Man Re-Arrested Following Disappearance Of Aoife Phelan
A man has been arrested again in relation to the disappearance of Aoife Phelan in County Laois. It is believed the 24-year-old male is being questioned at Portlaoise Garda Station. Gardai discovered a female body yesterday during a search at a house on the Timahoe Road. A post mortem is due to be carried put.

Labour has said the recently published HIQA Portlaoise report has "countrywide consequences". Senator John Whelan said that it was "shocking that it has taken so much tragedy and so much time for the truth to finally come out".

Man Dies In Co Laois Road Crash
Gardaí in Co Laois have reported the death of a 47-year-old following a road crash on the M7 Dublin-Limerick road. The crash happened near Portlaoise shortly before 10pm on Thursday night. According to gardaí, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was reopened on Friday morning following a technical examination.

Urgent Appeal Issued For Missing Dublin Teenager
Gardaí have issued appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 13-year-old Aoife Hawthorne. Aoife was last seen yesterday evening, Saturday 23rd September, 2017 at approximately 7.30pm on Grangecastle Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22. Aoife was visiting a friend in Dublin on Saturday and failed to come home.
