Shell Machine Blocks Roads In Mayo

A single large truck is blocking the intersection of the L1203 and R314 roads, in North Co. Mayo.

The truck was carrying part of a tunnelling machine destined for work on the Corrib gas project. The truck got into difficulty while negotiating a turn at the junction, near Glenamoy Bridge.

Due to protestor activity and safety considerations, attempts to remove the truck from the location and restore access to the road had to be suspended overnight.

Shell E&P will continue to work with both the Gardaí and Mayo County Council to resolve the situation.

A spokesperson for Shell E&P Ireland apologises for the inconvenience caused to all members of the public affected by the road blockage.
