4th Féile An Droichead Launches
Arts Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has launched the fourth Féile an Droichead in Belfast.
Féile An Droichead is south and east Belfast’s only traditional arts and Irish language festival. It will take place from 23-26 of August this year and will have a range of concerts, workshops and community events both in the An Droichead centre and other venues throughout Belfast.
Speaking at the launch, Carál NÍ Chuilín said: "This year's Féile an Droichead can boast an impressive line-up of musicians which includes Niamh Parsons and Dónal Lunny. As well as the music there will be a Poc Fada in Ormeau Park and creative drama and graffiti classes for children – all in all there is something for everyone.
"It is great to see the Féile branching out across the city to the Mac where Iarla Ó Lionáird and Steve Cooney will play the opening concert on the 23rd of August, to a unique and special exhibition charting 55 years of record covers and sleeves from the Gael Linn archives in the Ulster Hall, as well as two landmark film screenings at Queen’s Film Theatre."
Praising the organisers of the Féile, the Minister said: "The organisers of Féile An Droichead should be proud of the vital role they are playing in promoting the Irish culture in all its forms and ensuring that it is attractive and relevant in today's society."

Irish Films Get Cannes Exposure
The Irish film industry will be well represented at the 2010 Cannes International Film Festival. All Good Children, directed by Alicia Duffy, has been officially selected for the Directors Fortnight section, and with lots of Irish films screening and selling in the Cannes Film Market which runs from May 12th to 23rd.
