Two Arrested In Connection With Journalists Murder

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old man in Dublin city centre at the weekend.

Eugene Moloney, a former Irish Independent journalist, died following a suspected assault on Camden Street on Sunday morning.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Irish Independent Security Editor Tom Brady said Mr Moloney was on his way home in the Portobello area, when the alleged assault occurred.

He was taken to St James's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Following a post mortem examination, the investigation was upgrade to a murder inquiry, which lead to the arrest of two men, in their 20s.

The men are being held at Kevin Street and Pearse Street Garda Stations.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the area between 3.45am and 4.30am on Sunday morning - particularly those who were close to the pedestrian lights on Camden Street.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Men Arrested Over €1m Cocaine And Heroin Find
Heroin and cocaine, with an estimated street value of €1m, has been recovered in a house search in Ballyfermot on Tuesday. Gardaí arrested two men, aged in their 30s, at the scene after officers uncovered 13kgs of cocaine worth an estimated €900,000 and 1.5kgs of heroin, with an estimated value of €225,000.

Two Men Arrested Over Delan O'Reilly Murder
Two men have been arrested in relation to the murder of Declan O'Reilly in September. Mr O'Reilly was fatally shot on South Circular Road on 24th September this year. The men, who are both in their 20s, are being detained at Kevin Street And Kilmainham garda stations. They can be held for up to seven days.

Two Arrested Over Garda Motorcycle Collision
Two men have been arrested in connection with a road accident involving a gardaí motorcycle. According to reports a garda officer was injured when his official garda motorcycle collided with a car on Lennox Street at around 14:00 on Wednesday.

Three Men Arrested In Connection With Darren Cogan Murder
Three people are in custody in connection with the murder of Darren Cogan. Mr Cogan, 22, was shot dead in a bar on Tyrconnell Road, Inchicore, two years ago. A man entered the premises on his own and fired a number of shots. Mr Cogan was fatally shot and his pal, who he was drinking with at the time, was also injured in the attack.
