Man Fighting For Life After Attack

A man has been left fighting for his life following a serious assault in west Dublin.

The 25-year-old suffered serious head injuries in the attack in Wheatfield Avenue, Clondalkin, at about 1am today.

Gardai said a man in his 30s was arrested a short time later and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene has been preserved while a technical and forensic examination is being carried out.

The injured man was rushed to Tallaght Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, which specialises in head injuries.

Gardai have appealed for anyone in the Wheatfield Avenue area at the time to come forward.

The collision occurred on the Red Line between the Kingswood and Red Cow stops, shortly before 8pm. A woman has suffered a slash wound to her face, during an attack in Dublin that also left a man in a "serious" condition in hospital. The 33-year-old man and woman, aged 40, were injured in the stabbing incident, which took place around 4.30pm on Saturday.

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in Blanchardstown this morning. According to garda the body of a woman thought to be in her 20s was found in the vicinity of a house in Warrenstown Walk in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Wednesday morning at around 08:40.

Man Dies In Tipperary Collision
A man, aged in his 70s, has died in a collision in Tipperary. He was killed after the car he was driving collided with another car in Borrisokane on Sunday, 05 June, at around 5.15pm. The woman in the other car sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at Limerick University Hospital.

Investigation Launched Following Suspicious Fire In Co Offaly
Gardai have launched an investigation following a suspicious fire at a house in Rhode, Co. Offaly on Monday. The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Sunday and 1.50am on Monday. A 24-year-old man sustained serious injuries and has been transferred to St James Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
