Contraband Cigarettes Seized At Dublin Port
5.3 million contraband cigarettes have been seized at Dublin Port.
The cigarettes, with a street value of approximately €2 million, was discovered by Revenue Custom's officials, in a container which arrived in Rotterdam.
The 'Raquel', 'Pride', 'Jim; and 'Capital' brand would have meant a potential loss of around €1.8m.
A man is currently being questioned and investigations are ongoing.

More than two million cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €1.1 million have been seized by Revenue Officers at Dublin Port. The 'JIM' branded cigarettes were uncovered when Revenue officers, acting on intelligence, identified and examined a shipping container that had arrived into Dublin Port from Vietnam via Rotterdam.

Dublin Port customers officers have seized 38 million cigarettes with a retail value of €14.7m. The cigarettes filled four 40-foot shipping containers and represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of €13.1m. Each container carried around 9.

Revenue Customs Officers have seized over 10.3 million cigarettes, with a retail value of over €4.7m at Dublin Port. The Don Corleone cigarettes were hidden in a 40-foot container and were described as "paper handkerchiefs" on the manifest. The investigation is continuing.
