12 Year For Road Rage Killer

Karl Donohoe received a 12 year jail sentence today for the manslaughter of British man, Raymond Bates.

Bates died in hospital four days after being beaten around the head with a hurley in Sandymount on September 26th, 2010.

The trial heard Mr Bates had drunk up to 10 pints of Guinness before getting behind the wheel of his four-wheel drive and tailgating and flashing Donohoe, who had his 18-month-old daughter in the car.

Donohoe, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, was jailed at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

A man who beat a motorist with a hurley stick in September 2012 will sentenced today. 31-year-old Karl Donohoe was originally due to stand trial last February on a charge of murder for the ‘road rage’ attack on 49-year-old Raymond Bates, when he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Aer Lingus Considers New Takeover Proposal
Aer Lingus is considering a new takeover offer from International Airlines Group (IAG). The improved offer was revealed in a statement made by the airline to the Stock Exchange this morning, which stated it had received a new offer of €2.55 per share and it was being considered by the board. The offer values the company at about €1.3 billion.

Minister Donohoe Visits Washington D.C. To Meet US Politicians
Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe is in Washington this week to engage with members of the US administration. He will hold talks with senior officials in Congress as well as heads of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, to tackle the state of US-Irish relations, trade, taxation and Brexit.
