Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

A Dublin man has admitted killing an English motorist who died in a road rage incident in Sandymount.

Karl Donohoe, 30, pleaded guilty today to the manslaughter of Raymond Bates in September 2010.

Mr Bates, 49, who was working for a construction firm at the time, was beaten with a hurley stick after an argument with another motorist.

He died in hospital four days after the attack.

Donohue was originally charged with murder, however the prosecution accepted his plea of manslaughter.

He has been remanded in custody for sentencing until 16th April.

Louth Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter
A Louth man accused of killing 18-year-old Niall Dorr in Dundalk over two years ago is to be sentenced in mind-December. 36-year-old Douglas Ward pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but not guilty to murder. His plea has been accepted by the Central Criminal Court by lawyers representing the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Rome Hit and Run Victims Identified
The two Irish women killed in a hit and run incident in Rome on St Patrick’s Day have been identified by Italian Police. Elizabeth Mary Gubbins, 27, from Co Limerick, and Mary Clare Collins, 28, from Ballyadams in Co Kildare, died instantly after being struck by a Mercedies driven by a drunk driver.
