Girl Dies In Drive-By Shooting
A teenage girl may have been mistakenly targeted in a feud between families, detectives believe.
The 16-year-old, named locally as Melanie McCarthy, but also known by the surname McNamara, was sitting in a parked car at around 10.30pm in Brookview Way, Tallaght, when a passing vehicle fired a shot at the car.
One line of inquiry is that the shooting was linked to a falling out between traveller families.
The girl suffered serious injuries and was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The scene is preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
Gardai are currently investigating and are appealing for anyone with information to contact 01-6666000, or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.

Five Arrested In Connection With Tallaght Shooting
Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, last Friday, have arrested a fifth person. The 31-year-old male was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He is detained at Tallaght Garda Station for questioning. Shay O'Byrne, 27, was shot three times in the back as he attempted to escape his killers during an orchestrated attack.

An investigation has been launched into an alleged shooting incident in West Dublin. According to reports, a teenager and a young child have been injured in an incident that gardaí have said is "ongoing" in the Parlickstown area of Blanchardstown. The area has been sealed off and gardaí are at the scene. Further updates to follow.

Two Held Over Attempted Shooting Attack Released
Two men arrested in connection with an attempted shooting attack in Dublin have been released without charge. The incident occurred at a car park next to the Islandbridge Court Apartments on 1 November. A Honda Civic rammed another car at the scene. Two occupants in the car then ran after the driver of the other vehicle and fired a number of shots.
