TD 'Shocked' As Limerick Left Off Google Maps

The Fianna Fáil TD for Limerick has spoken of his "shock" at the news that Limerick is not featured on Google maps.

Deputy Collins said the oversight is "detrimental" to both local tourism and to the economic development of the region.

Deputy Collins said: “I have contacted the head of Google Ireland John Herlihy this morning to ask him that this oversight be rectified immediately. Given the extensive worldwide use of Google by both the business community and by the public, the fact that Limerick is quite literally not on the map is a huge problem.

“Google maps is becoming increasingly popular and to think that one of Ireland’s largest population centres is not featured on the main maps is simply not good enough. We in Limerick are competing with other regions for both domestic and foreign investment, and our absence from such a significant online resource is damaging. Google have indicated to me that they are working to rectify the problem.”
