Girl, Two, Rescued From Mullingar Blaze

A two-year-old girl has been rescued from a fire at a house in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

Two Garda officers managed to rescue the girl from an upstairs bedroom at the house in Grange Crescent when the fire broke out around 1:.50am today.

It is understood that six family members were in the house when the blaze broke out - a mother, father and four children, aged 13, seven, six and two - and all six were taken to Midlands Regional Hospital for treatment.

The two adults and three older children all managed to escape through an upstairs window.

The mother is understood to be in a serious condition, while the two-year-old girl was later transferred to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.

The two garda were also treated at Midlands hospital for smoke inhalation.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and the investigation is continuing.

Gardaí Appeal For Information On Fatal Road Crash In Co Westmeath
Gardaí have appealed for information on a fatal road traffic accident near Mullingar, Co Westmeath on Saturday morning. Three women and a ten-year-old girl died when a car and an SUV collided near Portnashangan, just north of Mullingar on the main N4 Dublin to Sligo road at about 07:30am on Saturday.

Teenage Girl Missing From Dublin
Gardaí have appealed for help locating a teenage girl missing from her Dublin home. 17-year-old Donna Maughan is missing from the Blanchardstown area. She is approximately 5'5", of slim build with blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Gardaí on 01 6667000.

Missing 16-Year-Old Found 'Safe And Well'
A 16-year-old girl missing from Coolock has been found "safe and well", garda have reported. Gardaí in Mountjoy had issued an appeal for help in tracing Jadine Dunne, who had not been seen since the early hours of Monday, 26 October. Garda thanked the public for their assistance in their search. No further action is needed.

Teenager Drowns On Holiday
A 17-year-old girl from Kilkenny city is reported to have drowned while on holiday in Spain. It is believed that the body of the girl, reported to be from Assumption Place, was found in a swimming pool on Friday. According to reports, the girl was on holiday with her mother and grandmother.
