Northern Bomb Alerts Over

The North's police have declared a suspicious object in the Donegall Road area of south Belfast this morning "an elaborate hoax".

Army Technical Officers attended and a number of homes in the area were evacuated and the road closed at the Falls Road/Donegall Road junction and St James Drive.

The PSNI have no also said that a security alert that was underway in the village of Glynn in Co Antrim this morning has ended too.

Police have confirmed that a controlled explosion was carried out and a vehicle has now been taken away for further examination. It is believed nothing untoward was discovered during the investigation.

Army Technical Officers were sent to the scene this morning and police were advising motorists to avoid the area.

Appeal For Witnesses To Early Morning Shooting In Dublin
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a shooting in Dublin this morning. According to garda a man was shot just after 9am on Thursday morning on Clonard Street. The victim has been taken to hospital but no details of his condition have been released. The scene of the shooting has been sealed off pending a technical examination.

Pair Arrested By Gardaí Investigating Human Trafficking
Two women have been arrested in County Westmeath in connection with an investigation into human trafficking, money laundering and prostitution. Gardaí detained the pair, aged 42 and 49, after a search of two premises in the Mullingar area yesterday morning, Sunday 14 April. The investigation is ongoing.

Man Dies In Overnight Road Crash
A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Body of Woman Found In Mayo
The body of a woman has been found at a Co Mayo house. The woman is believed to be a foreign national in her mid 40s. The woman’s landlord who went to visit the house on Station Road in Castlebar on Thursday morning discovered her body.

North Hit By Seaside Bomb Outrage
An undercar booby trap bomb has been found in the driveway of a soldier's home in Bangor, Co Down this morning. The device fell off the vehicle on Wednesday morning and was found by the officer and between 20 and 30 houses in the Chatworth area of the town were evacuated.
