Gardaí Await Post Mortem In Byrne Case

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the murder of a 19-year-old man in Inchicore, Dublin.

David Byrne was found in the car park of Emmet Court apartment block on Saturday night. He had suffered stab wounds and later died in hospital.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.

Mr Byrne left his home in Davitt House around 10pm. It has been reported that around four people, wearing hoodies, followed him along the Grand Canal, across the footbridge from Drimnagh into Inchicore and on through St Michael's Estate.

The gang caught him in the car park of the Emmet Court apartments.

He was stabbed at least four times and was pronounced dead in St James's Hospital.

Although gardaí knew him due to a previous attack, Mr Byrne had no serious convictions.

Gardaí are appealing for those with information to contact Kilmainham Garda Station.
