Gardaí have issued a renewed appeal for public assistance as they continue to investigate the disappearance and murder of Paul 'Frank' Byrne exactly 17 years ago.

The 20-year-old was last seen alive on 15 July 2009 at Kilmartin Green in Tallaght, Dublin 24. Reports from the time indicate that he departed the estate alongside several other males in a wine-coloured Mitsubishi Carisma with a 2000 registration. This marked the final recorded sighting of him, and his mother reported him missing at Tallaght Garda Station the following day.

On 29 July 2010, just over a year after his disappearance, a forestry worker discovered his remains in a wooded area near Blessington, County Wicklow. While five individuals have been arrested over the course of the investigation to date, no one has yet been brought to justice for the murder. Officers at Blessington Garda Station are now urging anyone with information regarding the case to step forward to help bring closure to Paul's family.

Investigators are eager to speak with individuals who may have held information since 2009, or those who have come into possession of relevant details over the intervening years. Gardaí have highlighted that relationships and personal associations frequently change over a 17-year period, and people who previously felt unable to speak out may now feel more comfortable sharing what they know.
