€200k Of Cannabis Seized In Dublin

A search of a Dublin address yesterday evening led to the arrest of a man and recovered a cache of cannabis worth nearly €200,000.

According to Gardaí this morning, the find is part of an on-going investigation carried out by members of the Crime Task Force attached to the Bridewell Garda Station in Dublin.

The search was carried out at an apartment in the North inner city at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

A Gardaí spokesman said that during the course of the search, Cannabis Herb, with a street value of €200,000, subject to analysis, was seized.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and is currently detained at the Bridewell Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are continuing.

The find follows an operation on Tuesday when two men were arrested in connection with a major drug seizure in Dublin that led to the discovery of an estimated €500,000 worth of various drugs.

In a statement, Gardai said they had seized the drugs and arrested the two males following an intelligence lead operation in the Capital.

During the operation, Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by local gardai from Clondalkin Garda Station stopped two cars close to Newlands Cross in Clondalkin this afternoon.

After carrying out a search on the vehicle, a large quantity of what is believed to be cannabis herb, was discovered in the cars and two males in their 30’s were arrested at the scene.

Both males are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

In a follow up operation Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit searched an apartment and a van in the Clonsilla area and recovered a further quantity of cannabis herb along with cannabis resin and cocaine.

It is understood that a total of 25kg of cannabis herb and 4kg of resin were uncovered during this later search and that the apartment could have been used as a cocaine preparation factory.
