Two Killed In Separate Road Accidents
Two people have died in road collisions within the last 24 hours. In the most recent incident, a 20-year-old female front seat passenger was fatally injured when the car in which she was travelling went out of control.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí at Bishopstown in Cork are investigating the single vehicle collision, which occurred at Ballinveltig, Curraheen Road shortly after mid-night this morning.
The male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway that runs from the roundabout at the Cork Greyhound Track at Curraheen towards Maglin, Ballincollig will remain closed to all motorists until forensic and technical examinations of scene are complete.
Only hours before this incident, a male in his 80s was fatally injured when the car he was driving was in collision with a second car. He was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the second car was uninjured. There were no passengers in the cars.
Gardai at Milford, County Donegal said they are also investigating this incident, which occurred on the Milford to Cranford Road at Bunlin Bridge at approximately 5pm on Monday.
The road was closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions were in place.
Gardai have launched an appeal for witnesses to this collision, asking them to contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

A man has been arrested after fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident on County Cork in the early hours of this morning. Two men in their 20s were killed in a head on collision of two vehicles at approximately 2.45am this morning on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, County Cork.

The collision occurred at Glen South, Naan, Kanturk at approximately 11.30am on the Kanturk/Banty to Cork Road and involved a car and a rigid truck. The 78-year-old female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
