Two Killed In Separate Road Accidents

Two people have died in road collisions within the last 24 hours. In the most recent incident, a 20-year-old female front seat passenger was fatally injured when the car in which she was travelling went out of control.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí at Bishopstown in Cork are investigating the single vehicle collision, which occurred at Ballinveltig, Curraheen Road shortly after mid-night this morning.

The male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The roadway that runs from the roundabout at the Cork Greyhound Track at Curraheen towards Maglin, Ballincollig will remain closed to all motorists until forensic and technical examinations of scene are complete.

Only hours before this incident, a male in his 80s was fatally injured when the car he was driving was in collision with a second car. He was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the second car was uninjured. There were no passengers in the cars.

Gardai at Milford, County Donegal said they are also investigating this incident, which occurred on the Milford to Cranford Road at Bunlin Bridge at approximately 5pm on Monday.

The road was closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions were in place.

Gardai have launched an appeal for witnesses to this collision, asking them to contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Man Leaves Scene Of Fatal Accident
A man has been arrested after fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident on County Cork in the early hours of this morning. Two men in their 20s were killed in a head on collision of two vehicles at approximately 2.45am this morning on the N25 at Caherulton, Castlemartyr, County Cork.

Mallow Garda Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí on Mallow have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic accident in Kanturk, Co Cork, on Thursday morning. The collision occurred at Glen South, Naan, Kanturk at approximately 11.30am on the Kanturk/Banty to Cork Road and involved a car and a rigid truck. The 78-year-old female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Car Accident
A woman has been seriously injured following a three-car collision on the N4 Dublin/Sligo Road. The crash occurred on the Edgeworth Road at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday (7 January). The woman is currently being treated at Midland Regional Hospital. The main Dublin/Sligo Road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Man Arrested Over Wexford Hit And Run
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with a hit and run incident that caused the death of a young Wexford student. Gardai investigating the fatal road traffic collision, which took place at Gorey, in County Wexford, on Sunday the 24th of October said they arrested a man yesterday afternoon.
