Two Held Over 'Tiger Kidnap' Raid

A man and woman have been arrested this morning in connection with an attempted 'tiger' style kidnapping in November last year.

Gardaí in Kilkenny investigating the incident that involved the false imprisonment of a bank official and his family and the attempted robbery of a bank in Kilkenny on November 3 2009 said this morning they had arrested a male aged in his 30s and a female aged in her 20s.

During the incident a gang attempted to extort €3m from bank official and former Kilkenny hurling star Adrian Ronan.

However, the gang had been forced to flee empty-handed when the tiger raid fell apart.

They were both arrested earlier today in the Dublin area. The male is detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, and the female under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939, at Kilkenny Garda Station.
