Missing Child Located In Scotland

A toddler who went missing from NI has been located at a caravan park in Scotland.

Sophie Anderson, who is just 17-months-old, was found by police in the Dumfries area and has been confirmed as being safe and well.

A 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, though to be the young girl's parents, have been arrested in connection with Sophie's disappearance.

A nationwide search was launched after Sophie's mother, Lucy Anderson, was spotted on CCTV boarding a ferry to Stranraer with her daughter in a pushchair.

Police were investigating a number of unconfirmed sightings in the Stranraer area.

Sophie's father was also seen on video taking an earlier ferry to Scotland.

Sophie had been with the foster parents for more than a year, but had been in regular contact with her birth parents.

On the day Sophie disappeared, it was arranged that her mother would collect her from a social worker's office and take her on an unsupervised visit to a mothers and toddlers' group, where they could have contact in a more natural environment - but they didn't arrive and the national search was undertaken.
