Two Being Quizzed Over Limerick Murder

Two men are still being questioned in connection with the murder of Daniel Treacy in Limerick last week.

The 35-year-old was shot dead at a petrol station on the outskirts of Limerick city last Monday morning.

Gardaí have been given more time to question two men, aged 29 and 51, who are being held at Henry Street and Roxboro Road garda stations.

Some 100 gardai are believed to be involved in the investigation into the fatal

shooting of 35 year old father of two at a filling station on the Ennis Road just before 6.30 last Monday morning.

Gardai have been studying CCTV footage from 60 locations, house to house inquiries have been completed in Limerick but were ongoing this weekend in North Kerry, where a car believed to have been used by the gunman was found partially burned out.

At Limerick District Court on Saturday Judge Tom O'Donnell granted an application for the further detention of a 29-year-old man arrested on the north side of the city last Monday night.

Under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act he must be released or charged by the end of the day.

Gardai were also granted a further 3 days to detain a 51 year old man who was also arrested on the city's north side on Wednesday evening.

Searches Launched Across Limerick City
Up to 20 searches are being carried out across Limerick City this morning, 26 April, as part of an operation targeting criminal activity. Gardaí launched the operation in the early hours of Tuesday morning and the operation is ongoing. Coroner Calls For Official Record Of Suicide Verdicts
Inquest verdicts of suicide should be officially recorded to help gather real statistics, the coroner for west Limerick has said. Currently, a coroner can only recommend a verdict of death in accordance with the medial evidence as given by a pathologist, west Limerick coroner and Senior Counsel Brendan Nix added.

Nine Arrested On Suspicion Of Real IRA Membership
Nine men have been arrested on suspicion of being members of the Real IRA following a series of early morning raids took place across Limerick city and county this morning, gardaí have confirmed. All nine are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at five garda stations across Limerick.

Body Confirmed As Missing Galway Man
Gardaí have confirmed they have found the body of missing Galway man Adrian Folan. Mr Folan had been missing since last Thursday, when he was last seen in Athlone. Gardaí say that a body found in a disused quarry near the village of Liscannor in north Clare is that of Mr Folan, and that the death is being treated as suspicious.

Teen Arrested After Man Is Shot In The Face In Limerick
Gardai are appealing for information after a man was shot in the face in Limerick on Sunday. A 21-year-old was shot at Hyde Road shortly after midnight. He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where his injuries are described as not life threatening. A 19-year-old has bee arrested in connection with the incident.
