Waterford Psychiatric Ward Man Missing
It has emerged today that a man has gone missing from a psychiatric ward in County Waterford.
Gardai in Waterford Station are seeking the public's help in trying to locate 53-year-old Pat McCarthy. Patrick was last seen close to St Otteran's Hospital in Waterford at 9.30pm on the 17th of January 2010.
It is not yet clear why there has been a lengthy delay between the date of Mr McCarthy's disappearance and today's announcement.
Gardaí have however revealed that when last seen he was wearing beige trousers, a grey and black striped sweatshirt, brown anorak and a beige baseball cap with the word 'Singapore' written on it in red letters.
He is described as 6ft, and 15st, with dark brown hair.
Anyone with information regarding Patrick's whereabouts is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300.

Journalist Ella Shanahan, has passed away in her County Waterford home. Ms Shanahan, 60, was the former London Editor of The Irish Times. She will also be remembered for her work in the RTÉ newsroom in the 1970s.
