Woman Found Dead In Athlone

Gardaí in Athlone are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young woman near the village of Ballykeeran last night.

It is understood the body of the woman, who is said to be in her early 20s, was discovered on the floor of an upstairs apartment near a pub in the area.

Gardaí are carrying out what are described as routine inquiries and it is expected a post mortem will be conducted on the woman's body this morning.

The find comes within 24 hours of a second discovery, this time of a man's body, following a fire at a caravan in Limerick.

The fire, which occured at the rear of a house in Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra, Weston in Limerick, was discovered last night at about 8 pm.

Gardaí said the body of a man - believed to be in his 50s - was taken from the scene.

There were no other injuries as a result of the fire. Gardaí are not treating the incident as suspicious.
