Road Accident Closes M50

A major road has been shut off following an accident this morning.

A driver has been trapped in one of the vehicles involved in the traffic collision was southbound on the M50 at approximately 12.30pm between Junctions 5 and 6 (Finglas and Blanchardstown exits respectively).

As a result, southbound traffic is completely blocked.

Motorists are being urged to avoid to area, and those travelling southbound are requested to leave the motorway either before, or at, the Finglas exit.

Those approaching the M50 from the M1 southbound are especially advised to avoid the M50 and to take the Santry road into Dublin.

Those currently on the M50 southbound are being diverted off at the Ballymun exit.

The incident involved an articulated lorry, and the driver of the same is trapped and is being attended to by emergency services at the scene.

The road will remain closed for a number of hours.

Appeal Issued For Witnesses To Serious M50 Crash
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision on the M50 Southbound on Wednesday morning. The crash happened at about 05:30 yesterday morning close to Junction 7, Lucan, Dublin and involved a car and two trucks. A 47-year-old woman, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was seriously injured.

Red Cow Roundabout Incident Closes Road
Motorists have been requested to avoid the Red Cow Roundabout in Dublin due to an incident involving a cement truck. Traffic from the Naas Road are unable to access the M50 southbound. Emergency work is ongoing to remove the trailer from the lorry, but motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

New Road Layouts For Red Cow Junction
Motorists driving through the M50 in Dublin's Red Cow roundabout are facing new road layouts from today. Two lanes have been opened at the Monastery Lane traffic lights for the N7 eastbound to the city and Luas, as well as two lanes for traffic travelling southbound and northbound.

Traffic Chaos On M50
There are major delays today on one of the country’s main arterial routes - and it’s ironically likely to have been caused by a traffic light ‘experiment’. Motorists are facing major delays on the southbound stretch of Dublin's M50 motorway this morning.
