Three Separate Stabbing Incidents Over Weekend

One man has died and two have been seriously injured during a spate of stabbings over the weekend.

A man in his 40s died in Tallaght Hospital following an incident at a bar in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin. He had been taken to the hospital with what appeared to be a stab wound to the body.

Gardaí said the incident took place in the carpark of a pub off Park West Road in Dublin, at about 2.00am on Sunday morning. Gardai had received a call to the area following reports of a large row.

When Gardai arrived they found up to 20 people involved in the disturbance. Four men were arrested under the Public Order Act and taken to Ballyfermot Garda Station. A Gardaí spokesman said the men have been released and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In an earlier separate incident, a 23-year-old man was left in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in Tralee, Co Kerry.

An ambulance crew who were called to the scene discovered the man in the Marina Apartments. He was found on the floor having sustained a number of stab wounds.

The injured man was taken to Kerry General Hospital where he is understood to be in a serious, but not life threatening, condition. A garda investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a 21-year-old man was stabbed at Riversville House in Oakview village in the early hours of the morning. A 22-year-old man was arrested by gardaí investigating that incident.
